A trade show engagement built for Trane Technologies through Czarnowski, deployed at the AHR Expo 2019. The AHR Expo is the HVACR industry's flagship annual event, co-sponsored by ASHRAE and AHRI and attended by OEMs, engineers, contractors, facility operators, and industry professionals from across the field. The brief called for an interactive installation that could make a large, complex industrial rooftop HVAC system legible and engaging on a trade show floor.
The centerpiece of the installation was a guided sectioned-wall experience I developed in Unreal Engine 4. The unit was presented at true 1:1 scale across an array of seven touchscreen monitors, each corresponding to a physical section of the HVAC system: six covering the broadside of the unit and one dedicated to the end panel displaying the unit's control interface. A moderator would walk the audience through the system section by section, and touching any monitor would toggle between two views of that section — exterior covers on, and covers removed to reveal the interior workings beneath. The interaction was designed to support the moderator's narration naturally, letting the audience engage directly with the content at the moment it was being discussed.
Czarnowski also collaborated with a partner agency on a secondary touchscreen quiz installation at the opposite end of the booth, testing visitors on their knowledge of Trane products and HVAC systems more broadly.
